Hey Stitch Cutie,
Day Eleven is here with another tip to help you have accurate machine applique projects!
Now that you know the pens that ensure accuracy, you still need to be accurate when tracing with those pens. You want to make sure that you trace each line of your applique pieces in the same manner. For example, if a pattern has thick black lines, you will need to consistently trace along the outside edge or inner edge of the black line. We make the lines in our pattern clean and crisp which help your accuracy, but even still, you need to be consistent in your tracing.
Does the tracing make much difference? Well, it can. For example, if you have several pieces layering to create a flower pot, if you trace some flowers on the inside line and some on the outside line, you could end up with spaces between your flowers that isn’t supposed to be there. Here are two pictures you may remember from a previous tip … if these pieces would have been traced in an inconsistent manner, the flowers might not have looked right.
Or take this Love Pillow for example, inaccurate tracing could have made these flowers not look right, either …
Of course, accuracy matters on more than just flowers … it is just an example in these pictures. Accuracy always equals the best possible project!
