Hey Stitch Cutie!
Today is a more than a tip – it is also a free pattern!
Julie explains the importance of always tracing the reverse of your applique piece. This is because the fusible irons onto the wrong side, or back side, of your fabric. So when you flip the piece over to iron it down, the final piece is actually a reversed of what you traced. By tracing it reversed onto the fusible at the beginning, your finished piece ends up being correct!
Most patterns will give you each applique piece already reversed for easy tracing. This won’t always be the case, though, so you need to remember to trace the applique piece reversed if it isn’t already done in the pattern for you.
We invite you to try out tracing by downloading this FREE PDF Pattern of the Just Love Mug Rug. It is really easy to see the importance of reversing your image when it comes to letters. Again, our pattern gives you each piece already reversed and ready to trace so it is quite easy! Download the pattern and make this adorable mug rug today … you can even try out some of the previous tips we’ve shared as part of Stitch365!
