Here is the video tutorial for the Get Outta Town Mini Quilt. This design is the featured mini for July 2018 and designed, as always, by Julie. The mini features a cute polka dotted camper with scallop details, a sweet door with a welcoming heart, a beautiful pot of flowers and checked bunting across the campsite. Doesn’t this make you want to go glamping this summer?!
I personally love to go glamping. Not camping so much, but glamping because I do like to have a camper or RV. Here in Florida where we live there are so many wonderful state parks to visit. I am originally from Panama City Beach, the land of beautiful white sands, and am quite partial to St. Andrews State Park. It is georgous! It is also fun to head towards the Pensacola area and spend time on the Blackwater River. I’ve even done a night of primitive camping there! You rent a little kayak and paddle down the river, find a spot along the banks that you like and set up camp. It has been a while since I did that and I probably won’t do primitive camping ever again, but I am glad to have had a true outdoor experience. If you have the opportunity, I highly recommend a trip to Florida to one of our lovely parks. They are so well maintained and have very nice facilities to make camping more like glamping. (No primitive camping necessary!)
And for our European friends, do you go camping? I hope to go camping in the Netherlands or France sometime in the near future. My family in the Netherlands spend a lot of time camping/glamping. My in-laws spend a lot of time with their camper in the south of France … they are there right now as I type this! They spend around 6-8 weeks near Nice and explore the area. When we get to go in the future I hope to spend more time in Monaco … that is my all time favorite vacation spot! My husband grew up camping in France and Italy. (He has hilarious stories of being a teenager and getting to have his own campsite with his friends!) My sister-in-laws, brother-in-law and nieces and nephew also camp a lot throughout the year around Castricum in the Netherlands and also travel to the south of France every year.
Even if you aren’t into camping or glamping, this Mini Quilt sure is cute! I am going to hang mine in a window in my kitchen. That’s where I always put my minis and I love changing them out each month. I can usually get mine to sit on the window sill and not fall. A trick I like to use to make my mini a bit stiff so it will stand is to add a layer of Heat N Bond Lite to the backing and then iron it to the batting … it gives just a little more substance so the mini doesn’t wrinkle or fold over in the window sill. When I do hang up a mini on a wall is the 3M sticky strips. They are soooo handy! I just stick it to the back hang corners and stick it to the wall. Easy Peasy!
