Which is right for me? Sewing Machine Applique or Embroidery Machine Applique? The question is easily answered based on what machine you are going to use to complete your applique project.
If you have a sewing machine, you will want to choose Sewing Machine Applique to complete your project. You will fuse your pre-fused, laser cut applique pieces to your applique background fabric and then use your Sewing Machine and your favorite applique stitch to stitch around your applique and secure it in place permanently. (Here’s a free downloadable PDF with Sewing Machine Applique Stitch Tips.) You will also piece your quilt top together using your sewing machine.
If you have an embroidery machine, you will want to choose Embroidery Machine Applique to complete your project. (You will need to make sure you have a large enough hoop to accommodate the embroidery file design.) Your embroidery machine will stitch the applique placement lines and you will build your applique units directly in the hoop of your embroidery machine. Then your embroidery machine will perfectly stitch your pre-fused, laser cut applique pieces in place permanently. You will piece together your quilt top together using your sewing machine.
